Title: "SHE is ALMOST DONE! But …? [ep 53]"

Introduction:
Welcome back to another exciting episode full of boat projects! In this week’s video, we find ourselves in a bit of a frenzy as time ticks away before my long-awaited visit to see my family. With only a few days left and a never-ending list of tasks, the pressure is on. Despite the challenges, I am grateful for the support of each and every one of you, especially my loyal Patrons, who have made it possible for me to spend the holidays with my loved ones.

Now, let’s dive into the whirlwind of activities that await me. The main focus of today’s agenda is waxing the boat’s bow. Normally, this would be a few-day project, but with so many other exciting things on the horizon, such as the Furler installation, time is of the essence.

However, life on a boat is unpredictable. Just as I was getting close to finishing the waxing process, darkness fell, and the mosquitoes emerged, forcing me to retreat for the night. It seems like nature has its own plans, which can throw a wrench in our well-laid schedules.

Despite this setback, I remain hopeful that tomorrow will bring better weather conditions for installing the roller Furler. The wind has been relentless, but I have found some solace within the protected corners of my floating abode.

In the meantime, I have been utilizing my time to organize my belongings and create order in my charming tulip closet. Cleaning has taken precedence over other tasks, such as fixing the AC, which can be dealt with later in Bimini if need be. As long as my guests have functional AC, I can focus on other pressing matters.

Speaking of which, I have a stack of packages waiting for me. Yesterday’s gloomy weather deterred my motivation to retrieve them, but today is a new day. Among the contents of these packages lie a new controller for the guest AC, batteries, starlink equipment, and new running rigging. The tasks associated with these deliveries will be tackled in due time, most likely in the Bahamas.

In the midst of all this, there are a few critical items that must be addressed before my scheduled departure. These include the engine inspection, the repair of a coolant issue occurring during engine heating, and the maintenance of the chain plate, which is showing signs of wear and tear.

As you can see, my plate is full, and the clock is ticking. Join me for another thrilling episode as we navigate the highs and lows of boat projects before I set sail back home to reunite with my family for the holidays.

Stay tuned for more updates on the progress and challenges that lie ahead. Until next time, fair winds and smooth sailing!

– Preparing for the Holidays: Balancing Boat Projects and Family Time

This week has been a whirlwind as I try to balance boat projects and spending time with my family during the holidays. With only a few days left before I visit my family, there are still so many things to do. The winless is still being fixed, and I’m eagerly waiting for the engine to be checked. I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you, especially my patrons, because without your support, I wouldn’t have been able to visit my family for the holidays.

Time is running out for projects, but today I’m diving into waxing the bow. It’s usually a few-day project, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to finish it. However, there are other exciting things happening this week too, like working on the Furler. So, I hope you’re all ready for another episode filled with boat projects before I head back home to see my family for the holidays.

– Challenges and Delays: Navigating Unexpected Setbacks in Boat Maintenance

In the midst of boat maintenance, unexpected challenges and delays have arisen, causing setbacks in the progress of the tasks at hand. The winless is currently being repaired, and the engine inspection has yet to take place, prolonging the completion of these important repairs. However, I want to express my gratitude to all of you, especially my loyal patrons, for your support, as it has enabled me to make this visit to my family during the holidays possible.

With limited time remaining for projects, I am focusing my attention on waxing the bow. Although typically a few days’ worth of work, I am uncertain if I will be able to complete this task within the given timeframe. Additionally, this week brings another exciting project – the installation of the Furler. While these setbacks have proved challenging, I hope you enjoy this episode filled with various boat projects before I journey back home to spend time with my loved ones for the holidays.

Unfortunately, the past few days have presented further difficulties. While meticulously waxing the boat, darkness fell, and pesky mosquitoes made their unwelcome appearance. Moreover, the weather conditions, with rain and strong winds ranging from 15 to 25 knots, prevented the planned installation of the roller Furler. However, I have rescheduled the installation for tomorrow, provided there isn’t a significant amount of lightning. Despite the persisting wind, I am fortunate to have found some protection, allowing me to continue organizing belongings into my tidily arranged tulip closet. Although cleaning the AC system was originally on my agenda, I have decided to postpone it until later, favoring a thorough cleaning of the boat instead. I can always address the AC issues in Bimini if necessary. In the meantime, I have procured a new controller for the guest AC, which I will install today. Yesterday’s unpleasant weather deterred me from picking up my packages, but today promises better conditions, so I’ll make that trip soon. Unfortunately, only one battery has arrived so far, prompting me to consider completing its installation in the Bahamas. This way, I can remain on-site for a few days afterward to ensure everything functions properly. Additionally, I have received the starlink, new running rigging, and completed the halyards. However, as I don’t have all the necessary parts for the running rigging, I plan to finish them all at once in the Bahamas. To recap, the remaining tasks on my to-do list include servicing the AC, installing the running rigging, completing the battery monitor and inverter setup, conducting the engine inspection, and addressing the valve issue that has caused coolant to mix with water in the hot water mechanism. Additionally, I need to assess the state of the chain plates, as some of the metal surfaces appear cracked and unstable. Despite these challenges and delays, I remain determined to navigate these setbacks and continue my boat maintenance journey.

– Organizing and Prioritizing: Tips to Efficiently Tackle Multiple Tasks

In order to efficiently tackle multiple tasks, it is crucial to prioritize and organize your workload. Here are some tips to help you stay focused and productive:

  1. Create a to-do list: Start by writing down all the tasks you need to accomplish. This will give you a clear overview of what needs to be done and help you prioritize accordingly.

  2. Prioritize your tasks: Once you have your to-do list, categorize your tasks based on their urgency and importance. Identify the high-priority tasks that need to be completed first and allocate your time and resources accordingly.

  3. Break tasks into smaller steps: Sometimes, big tasks can seem overwhelming. To make them more manageable, break them down into smaller, actionable steps. This will make your work more organized and less daunting.

  4. Set realistic deadlines: Be realistic when setting deadlines for your tasks. Consider the time and effort required for each task, and allocate sufficient time to complete them without rushing or compromising quality.

  5. Eliminate distractions: Minimize distractions that can hamper your productivity. Find a quiet and comfortable space to work, turn off notifications on your phone, and limit your access to social media and other non-essential websites.

  6. Take breaks: It is crucial to take regular breaks to refresh your mind and maintain focus. Incorporate short breaks into your schedule to recharge, relax, and prevent burnout.

  7. Delegate tasks when possible: If you have the option, delegate tasks to others who are capable and available to help. This will free up your time and allow you to focus on more important or time-sensitive responsibilities.

Remember, effective organizing and prioritizing skills are essential for efficiently managing multiple tasks and maintaining productivity. By implementing these tips, you can optimize your workflow and tackle your tasks with ease.

– Troubleshooting and Repairs: Addressing AC and Engine Issues before Departure

In preparation for departure, it is important to address any AC and engine issues to ensure a smooth journey. Troubleshooting and repairing these problems beforehand can prevent any inconveniences or delays during your trip. Here are some tips and suggestions to help you tackle these issues:

  1. AC Maintenance: Regular maintenance of your AC system is crucial for optimal performance. Before departure, consider the following:

    • Clean or replace the AC filters to ensure proper airflow and filtering of allergens.
    • Inspect and clean the coils to remove any dirt or debris that may hinder the cooling process.
    • Check for any leaks or damage in the refrigerant lines and repair them if necessary.
    • If the AC is not functioning properly, consider installing a new controller for better control and efficiency.
  2. Engine Inspection: Before embarking on your journey, it is essential to thoroughly inspect your engine to avoid any unforeseen issues:
    • Schedule an engine inspection with a qualified mechanic to ensure that all components are in good working condition.
    • Check the coolant levels and ensure that there are no leaks or blockages in the cooling system.
    • Inspect the valves and ensure they are properly adjusted to prevent overheating or water contamination.
    • Address any chain plate issues promptly, as cracked or loose plates can compromise the structural integrity of your vessel.

By addressing these AC and engine issues before departure, you can sail with confidence and enjoy a trouble-free journey. Remember to consult professionals or seek assistance if needed and prioritize safety above all else. Bon voyage!
