Finding our own private hideaway in Belize

Welcome to our blog post where we delve into the fascinating topics discussed in the YouTube video titled “Finding our own private hideaway in Belize”. This captivating video takes us on a journey through the beautiful waters of Belize as the adventurers repair their dinghy and set sail to discover their own little private hideaway island. But before they embark on this exciting adventure, they encounter some unexpected challenges, including a dinghy mishap that requires some quick repairs. Luckily, they manage to fix it and set off on their voyage.

As they navigate through the breathtaking landscapes of Belize, the travelers decide to make a stop at the Placencia yacht Club to spend the night. However, the wind shifts, leading to a rather bumpy night for their dinghy. Despite the minor setback of a knocked-off shift lever, they successfully resolve the issue and get back on track. With everything in order, they set their sights on their next destination.

Their plan for the day includes a visit to the fuel dock to replenish their supply, particularly for the generator that promises a cool night’s sleep in the hot Belizean climate. After a quick and straightforward refuel, they bid farewell to the lagoon and embark on a 14 to 15-mile journey to Hideaway Key.

Hidden away on Hideaway Key, a hidden gem in Belize, are the cabins owned by their friends, Kim and Dustin. Although the couple is away during the lowest month of the tourism season, they graciously offer the adventurers the opportunity to moor their boat and enjoy the serenity of the island. With steaks on the menu and the promise of a relaxed evening just for the two of them, it’s an experience they eagerly anticipate.

During their journey to Hideaway Key, they come across barges carrying building materials to the other islands in the area. Priced at thousands of dollars per day, these barges are crucial for the construction happening across the islands. Amidst this spectacle, they are treated to an enchanting encounter with dolphins swimming alongside their boat.

Now, join us as we dive deeper into the memorable experiences, breathtaking landscapes, and hidden treasures found in Belize’s private hideaways. So sit back, relax, and let’s uncover the wonders of this idyllic paradise together.

1. Dinghy Repairs and Preparations for our Private Hideaway

In this video, we tackle some dinghy repairs to ensure a smooth sailing experience as we make our way to our own private hideaway island. After spending the night docked at the Placencia Yacht Club, we noticed that the dinghy had gotten bumped around and the shift lever had come off. Thankfully, we were able to put everything back together and the dinghy now shifts properly, allowing us to start the engine with ease.

With the repairs done, we set off from the dock and head towards the fuel dock. Our starboard engine is running low on fuel, and since we want to be able to sleep comfortably in air conditioning, we decide to fill up the tank. It’s a bit strange to turn into the mangrove, but according to the charts, the fuel station should be around here somewhere. After a quick and easy refueling process, we’re back on our way.

Our destination is Hideaway Key, where our friends Kim and Dustin own an Airbnb with a couple of cabins. Although they’re not currently there due to it being the lowest month of the low season, they kindly allowed us to use one of their mooring balls. We’re excited to cook dinner on the boat, enjoy some steaks, and have a relaxing evening just the two of us. It’ll be a nice change of pace. As we continue our journey, we notice a few barges delivering building materials to the other islands. It’s quite expensive to hire these barges, costing a couple thousand bucks a day or even more. On our way, we also spot dolphins swimming alongside us, providing a delightful encounter with nature.

2. Journey to Hideaway Key: Fueling Up and Exploring the Lagoon

In this video, we begin our journey to Hideaway Key by first making some necessary repairs to our dinghy. After spending the night docked at the Placencia Yacht Club in Biz, we noticed that the wind had shifted and caused the dinghy to get banged around underneath the dock. Thankfully, we were able to fix the shift lever, allowing us to engage the pull cord and get the dinghy up and running again.

Once the repairs were made, we set off from the dock and headed towards the fuel dock. With our starboard engine running low on fuel, it was important to refuel, especially since that engine powers our generator. We wanted to ensure that we had enough fuel to run the AC and sleep comfortably on the boat. After a quick stop at the fuel dock, where we filled up on diesel and grabbed some ice, we continued on our journey towards Hideaway Key.

Hideaway Key is a private island owned by our friends, Kim and Dustin. Although they were not there during this low season, they generously offered us a mooring ball to anchor our boat and enjoy the peace and serenity of the island. As we make our way there, we take in the natural beauty of the surroundings, spotting dolphins swimming nearby. We are excited to have some downtime, cook a delicious dinner on the boat, and just enjoy a relaxing evening for the two of us. It will be a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of our usual sailing adventures.

4. Sailing with Dolphins and Enjoying a Relaxing Evening on the Boat

In this video, we start by fixing some repairs on the dinghy before embarking on a sailing adventure through Biz to our very own private Hideaway Island. We had spent the night docked at the Placencia Yacht Club in Biz, so we left the dinghy tied up on one side of the boat. However, due to the wind shifting, the dinghy ended up going underneath the dock, causing some damage. Thankfully, we were able to fix the shift lever and get it back in working order. Now, we’re ready to set sail and explore.

Our first stop on this journey is the fuel dock. Since our starboard engine is running low on fuel, and that’s the one that powers the generator for the air conditioning, we decided to make a quick pit stop to refuel. It turned out to be a simple and easy process, although a bit pricey. With our tanks filled and a few bags of ice on board, we’re ready to leave the lagoon and head towards Hideaway Key.

Hideaway Key is a special place owned by our friends Kim and Dustin, who run it as an Airbnb. They have some cabins available for rent, but unfortunately, they’re not here at the moment as it’s the lowest month of the low season. Nevertheless, they’ve kindly offered us a mooring ball so we can still enjoy the tranquility of this beautiful spot. We plan to cook a delicious dinner on the boat, savoring some juicy steaks and having a relaxing evening, just the two of us. As we make our way there, we’re excited to encounter dolphins swimming nearby, always a magical experience. Stay tuned for more adventures on our sailing journey with these playful creatures. In this YouTube video, we embarked on a journey through Belize, facing a few challenges along the way. We took the time to repair our dinghy, ensuring that we could navigate the waters smoothly. Despite a little mishap with the dinghy hitting the dock, we were able to fix the issue and continue our adventure.

Our first stop was the Placencia Yacht Club in Belize, where we spent a night docked. After a restful sleep, we set off towards our own private hideaway island. But before that, we needed to refuel our starboard engine, as it was running low on gas. We made a quick stop at the fuel dock, taking a moment to also replenish our ice supply.

With the generator fueled up and ready to go, we continued our journey towards Hideaway Key. This beautiful island is owned by our friends, Kim and Dustin, who graciously allowed us to use one of their mooring balls during their absence. Although they weren’t around due to it being the low season, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to experience their Airbnb and enjoy a dinner aboard our boat.

As we sailed towards Hideaway Key, we marveled at the scenic beauty of the surrounding islands. We learned that only a few barges operate in this area, delivering essential building materials to the remote islands. It was fascinating to see these barges in action, though we also had the pleasure of encountering dolphins swimming alongside us.

Finally, after a few hours of sailing, we arrived at Hideaway Key. Even without our friends’ presence, the tranquil atmosphere and the chance for a relaxing evening just the two of us gave us something to look forward to. We couldn’t wait to cook up some delicious steaks and bask in the serenity of this enchanting island.

Join us in our next adventure as we explore more hidden gems and create unforgettable memories. Until then, thank you for tuning in and being part of our journey through Belize.
