1. Life on the Water: The Reality of Boat Life

Life on the water can be like something out of a movie, with beautiful sails, crystal clear water, and picture-perfect sunsets. However, the reality of boat life is often filled with constant repairs and maintenance. While I have accomplished a lot in Grenada, my to-do list seems never-ending, and I am eager to explore more islands. Thankfully, my main project is completed, and departing from Grenada is becoming a reality. We have stocked up on groceries and my GPS positioning mount has been installed, so now I am just waiting for the starlink M. Unfortunately, I am still waiting for my solar controller to clear customs, and the delay is due to the unloading of the container. But despite these hiccups, we are getting closer to setting sail.

As I checked out of the marina this morning and prepare for departure, I am filled with excitement and a bit of nervousness. I quickly get everything ready, securing the power cords and loosening up the anchor. The wind is howling, adding to the anticipation. And just like that, we are off, leaving the marina behind. Now our task is to find a suitable anchorage, which shouldn’t be as crowded as the first time we arrived. The view from the boat is breathtaking as we pass by the beautiful coastline. I’m a little disappointed that I forgot to film the entire process, but as we back down and settle into our new location, I can’t help but feel amazed at the beauty that surrounds us.

Life on the water brings its own challenges and surprises. As we leave Grenada behind, our engine is about to hit 500 hours of operation. I realize that I left the hose clamps for the lightning rod at the top of the mast, but there’s no turning back now. The weather is a mix of clouds, rain, and wind, but the sun manages to peek through at times. We are determined to up anchor and head towards Port Louis, where I hope the conditions will be more favorable. Unfortunately, my navigation button is broken, and my new chartplotter is still sitting in the USVI, delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. But despite these minor setbacks, I am getting more familiar with the water and successfully tied my first mooring line by myself. It’s a small achievement, but it brings me a sense of pride and accomplishment. Plus, we managed to move without having to dive into the water, even though we are anchored in relatively shallow waters. The rain may be pouring, but our spirits are high as we continue our journey.

2. Preparing for Departure: Challenges and Progress

In preparing for departure from Grenada, there have been various challenges and progress made. The main project has been completed and the next step is to leave the marina. Groceries have been obtained and the GPS positioning Mount has been installed. However, there have been delays with the customs clearance of the solar controller and the unloading of the container. Despite these minor setbacks, everything is being put away and preparations are being made for sailing.

The departure from the marina is imminent, with the engine ready to start and the power cords being organized. As the wind howls, the hope is for a smooth departure. Once out at sea, finding a suitable anchorage is the next task. The excitement is evident for the journey ahead, even though some filming was forgotten in the midst of all the action. The boat is being checked and adjustments are being made, as the engine hours continue to increase. Despite a cloudy and rainy day, the focus is on racing the anchor and making progress towards the next destination.

3. Sailing to a New Anchorage: Excitement and Setbacks

Some days on the water feel like a scene from a movie, with beautiful sales and crystal clear water. Picture perfect sunsets and cocktails in hand create a sense of excitement and tranquility. However, many days are filled with challenges and setbacks, where we sail to fix and fix to sail. Despite the never-ending to-do list in Grenada, I am ready to embark on a new adventure and explore more islands.

As we prepare to depart Grenada, we have made all the necessary arrangements. We have stocked up on groceries and our GPS positioning mount has been installed. However, there are still some obstacles to overcome. We are eagerly waiting for our solar controller to clear Customs and hope that the container holding it will be unloaded soon. Once everything is in place and properly stowed away, we will be ready to set sail.

The moment of departure is approaching, and with fingers crossed, we check out of the marina. As we start the engine and get everything ready, the wind howls around us. Our anticipation grows as we prepare to loosen the lines and head towards our new anchorage. With a sense of excitement and determination, we set off, leaving behind the familiar shores of Grenada. Our goal now is to find a less crowded anchorage and settle into our new surroundings. Though our first night at anchor may not have been entirely smooth, we are eager to adapt and make the most of our new journey.

4. Adjusting to Life at Sea: Milestones and Adaptation

Some days at sea feel like scenes from a movie, with stunning sails and crystal-clear water. But most days, it’s a constant cycle of fixing and sailing. While I accomplished a lot in Grenada, my to-do list is endless, and I’m eager to explore more islands. Thankfully, my main project is complete, and we’re now preparing to depart. We’ve stocked up on groceries and installed the GPS positioning mount. The only thing holding us back now is the solar controller, which is still stuck in Customs. They haven’t unloaded the container yet, but hopefully, that will be resolved soon. Despite these minor setbacks, we’re getting closer to setting sail.

This morning, I checked out of the marina, and we’re just minutes away from departing. Fingers crossed that the engine starts smoothly. I’m hurrying to get everything ready, securing the power cords and preparing for the strong winds. Once we’re ready, I’ll release the stern and head out to find an anchorage. It may not be as crowded as last time, but it’s still pretty deep. Apologies for forgetting to film the entire process, but we successfully maneuvered and anchored. I can’t help but be amazed at the beautiful views around us. Now that we’re settled, I’ll inspect the boat and check on everything. Our engine is nearing the 500-hour mark, and I hope the rest of our journey goes smoothly.
