Growing up in the Bahamas has been a cherished family tradition that has instilled in me a deep love and connection to the ocean. From a young age, my parents and grandfather brought our entire family to these beautiful islands every summer, creating memories that have lasted a lifetime. I still remember my first visit here when I was just a few months old, sleeping in a drawer on our boat. It was the start of something truly special.

As I got older, my passion for the ocean grew stronger. In middle school, my mom mentioned the possibility of studying marine biology. I had always been drawn to the ocean, but I didn’t even realize that marine biology was a field of study. However, her words sparked something within me, and from that moment on, I became determined to pursue a career in marine biology. Throughout high school, I took online classes and had the opportunity to do research in a marine biology lab, further solidifying my passion for the field. After much consideration, I decided to attend Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale, as it was not only a great school for marine biology, but also because my grandfather lived there, allowing me to be close to family.
