Imagine waking up to the⁤ annoying sound of mosquitoes buzzing‍ in your ear, only to find yourself covered in itchy bites. It’s not⁤ exactly the peaceful and serene sleep one might expect on a boat.

But despite the lack of sleep, there is something inexplicably beautiful about waking up ⁤to the gentle rocking of ‌the⁤ boat and the‍ sound ‌of waves lapping against the hull. ⁤It’s a reminder that ‌you are ⁣fully immersed in the ocean⁣ life ⁤you’ve always dreamt of. As you step outside onto the marina, you take a quick walk to witness the breathtaking views and connect with the beauty of‍ your surroundings.

Another challenge that commonly plagues boat dwellers is the constant battle with mosquito infestations. These tiny bloodsuckers can quickly⁣ turn your living quarters into a buzzing nuisance. It’s essential ‌to find‌ effective ways ⁤to deal with these pests,⁤ such as using mosquito nets, repellents, or keeping the boat well-ventilated. 2. The Journey to Puerto ‍Rico: Delays,⁤ Setbacks, and a Haul-Out

2. The Journey to⁤ Puerto Rico: Delays, Setbacks, ‌and a Haul-Out
I just spent my first night on my boat,‌ and it was not quite the peaceful experience I‍ had hoped for. I woke up to the annoying sound of mosquitoes buzzing ⁤in ⁤my ear, and now I’m swatting them away and dealing with the itchy aftermath of their bites. ‌Needless to say, sleep ‍is elusive at the‌ moment. So, instead of tossing and turning, I decided to step outside and take a quick ⁢walk around the marina‍ to see what’s happening.

Now, let‍ me give you a little recap of the recent⁤ events. After⁤ much back ⁤and forth‍ with the yard for what felt ⁤like an eternity, I finally made it to Puerto Rico and spent my first night there. You see, back in mid-August, during a sea trial, the engine on my ‍boat decided to call it quits. I knew then that the boat would need to be hauled out for repairs. Fast forward to mid-November, and the boat was finally‍ hauled out. However, progress was slow. When I asked about‍ it, they hadn’t even taken ⁢the old engine out to put the new one in. Frustrated, I⁢ decided to take a break and visit my family in Joplin for two weeks.

Plans changed, ‍as‌ they often do, and the boat‌ wasn’t ready until a few days later in early December. ⁤It turned out⁣ to be a blessing in disguise though, as ‍the delay allowed me some extra time to pack and organize everything. Once I arrived in Fort Lauderdale, where my journey to Puerto Rico ‌would begin, I ‍realized just how much‌ there was to ‌do.‍ I had to sort‍ through all ⁢my belongings, figuring out what to take and what to leave behind. My two suitcases are packed, but I also have to deal with other items like my windlass.

Despite feeling a bit overwhelmed, I am determined to make this journey a success. I have ⁤ordered more parts for the‌ boat’s engine, and I’m hopeful⁤ that⁣ everything will⁢ go smoothly. Now, if you’ll ⁤excuse me, I have a bit of a mess to tidy up before setting off on this adventure.
