– Introduction: Exploring the Unspoiled Beauty of the Maresas Islands in French Polynesia
Welcome to another episode of Paray Revival! We have finally arrived at the Maresas Islands in French Polynesia after sailing over 2,800 nautical miles from Mexico. Let me tell you, these islands have exceeded all our expectations with their unspoiled beauty and natural wilderness.
As we explore the South Pacific islands, our crew is taking the time to collect little mementos from our Pacific Crossing before we welcome two new members to the Paray family. From facing hurricane damage to broken bulkheads and even getting struck by lightning twice, we have come a long way. But now, we have the strongest and fastest Lagoon 450 on the planet, and we are sailing towards New Zealand, our next stop on this incredible circumnavigation journey.
This week, we find ourselves in Tata, a small island just south of Evaa in the Maresas Islands. It’s the kind of place that you wouldn’t really imagine visiting unless you were on a sailboat. We have found a beautiful bay to anchor in, surrounded by tall hills and a wild ocean. Waking up in paradise, we are greeted with a stunning morning. Some of the crew have gone hunting for lobsters, and Jamie is returning with the "goodie bag." Unfortunately, it seems like our lobster rolls for lunch might have to be postponed, but that doesn’t dampen our spirits. The ocean here is truly unique, showcasing the untamed power and beauty of the Pacific.
While here, we are also trying out a new adventure—wing sailing. As beginners, we are still getting the hang of it, but it’s an exciting experience. Pumping up the seven-meter kites, we set off with the paddleboards to get a feel for riding the wing. Despite the lack of wind on this particular day, we are eager to continue learning and improving our skills. After a quick setup time, we are ready to go and sail downwind, enjoying the sensation of flying.
Join us as we continue to explore the unspoiled beauty of the Maresas Islands in French Polynesia. Stay tuned for more adventures, breathtaking landscapes, and the unique experiences that Paray Revival brings.
– Lunch Disappointment: The Hunt for Lobsters on Tata Island
In this week’s episode of Paray Revival, our crew finds themselves on Tata Island, a small island in the Maresis Islands of French Polynesia. This hidden gem is not the typical tourist destination, but as sailors, we were lucky enough to stumble upon its beauty. Surrounded by tall hills and the vibrant Pacific Ocean, Tata Island offered us a breathtaking view of nature in all its wild and untouched glory.
One beautiful morning, the crew decided to go hunting for lobsters, a delicacy we were all looking forward to for lunch. Jamie, one of our crew members, returned empty-handed, disappointing us all. However, his disappointment was quickly overshadowed by his encounter with two massive sharks. The footage revealed that these majestic creatures were over 2 meters wide, emphasizing the raw and untamed nature of the Pacific Ocean.
In addition to lobster hunting, we also took the opportunity to try out a new adventure – wing sailing. Despite being beginners, we were determined to give it a shot. With just 10 knots of wind, we pumped up the seven-meter kites and set off with our paddleboards. Although the wind wasn’t in our favor, we were still able to grasp the exhilarating feeling of flying the wing. It was an experience that reminded us of the incredible similarities between sailing and wing sailing, showcasing the boundless possibilities that exist when exploring the open waters.

But wait, there’s more! In this episode, we are about to dive into a thrilling activity: wing sailing. We’re still beginners, having only tried it once before, but that won’t stop us from embracing the adventure. Nevertheless, we were off to a great start, learning the ropes and experiencing the exhilaration of sailing with the wing.
