Orientation and Course Overview
We’re getting the boat all cleaned up today because our captain and sailing instructor is coming aboard for orientation tomorrow. Our classes officially start, and we learn how to sail. Before she comes aboard, we got to get this place in ship shape; right aye aye, not my captain. Thanks a lot! Everything we do this week will be a defensive course on the weather. Use these and so on, these are pinch and zoom, right? Yeah, you get to go back to a little bit of old, yes, great! Jennifer, our instructor and captain, just left after giving us the orientation and the layout of what we’re going to be doing over the next six days. Five days of sailing, six days of school, and if we’re lucky, if the weather cooperates, we’ll make it all the way to Key Largo. If the weather cooperates, if not, oh well, you only knew what you can do.
At the end of this, we will have four little stamps in our book: basic keel boat sailing, basic coastal cruising, bareboat cruising, and cruising catamaran sailing. What that does is that allows us to go pretty much anywhere and charter a catamaran. Yes, but the really cool thing is we’re taking this class through Blue Water Sailing School on their A-plus catamaran course. Typically, you would go on one of their boats to take the course, but we have a unique situation because we already own a boat. They said, “Can you take a class on your own boat?” They said, “Absolutely, we do that quite often.” We said, “Sign us up!” Tomorrow, class begins at 8 a.m., and tonight, we have a very romantic evening of study. Good morning, everyone on board – our captain Jennifer or Jen, and our friend Terry who has volunteered to help us out by holding some cameras and miscellaneous things. Good morning! I’m excited to start learning and to be out sailing for a whole week. It’s going to be work because we have a lot to learn, but exciting because we’re sailing. Let’s get ready for this adventure!

Use these, and so long these are pinch and zoom, right? Huh, yeah, you get to go back to a little bit of old, yes! Great Jennifer, our instructor and captain, just left after giving us the orientation and layout of what we’re going to be doing over the next six days. Five days of sailing, six days of school, and if we’re lucky, if the weather cooperates, we’ll make it all the way to Key Largo. If not, oh well, you only knew what you can do, right?
At the end of this, we will have four little stamps in our book facing keel boat sailing, basic coastal closing, cruising catamaran sailing. What that does is that allows us to go pretty much anywhere and charter a catamaran. Yes, but the really cool thing is we’re taking this class through Blue Water Sailing School, and it’s their A+ catamaran course. When we were inquiring about the class, typically you would go on and you would take the course on one of their boats, obviously, because you need a boat to sail on. We have a unique situation because we already own a boat, so we said, ‘Can you take the class on your own boat?’ They said, ‘Absolutely, we do that quite often.’ We said, ‘Sign us up!’ That’s where we are. Tomorrow, class begins at 8 a.m., and tonight we have a very romantic evening of reading the rest of these books so that we’re prepared for class.
