Headed Down to the Exuma: Preparing and Upgrading for the Charter Season
As sailors, we are always preparing for something. It could simply be for the next day’s passage or for that accident you hope never comes. The past few months have been busy, as I’ve been upgrading the boat for myself and also getting ready for my upcoming Charter season. While it has been a lot of work, the past few weeks have transformed into some play time.
I recently headed down to the Exuma to spend time with friends and participate in the flotilla. Now that it’s over, it’s time to sail 200 nautical miles to Bimini, the island where I’ll be hosting my charters. But before I leave, I’m taking a moment to say goodbye to some friends in Staniel. The journey ahead will be rough, but I’m excited for the adventure that awaits in Bimini, including a Hammerhead dive!
Today, as I answer emails and edit videos, I reflect on the amazing experiences I’ve had in the Exuma. The cruising community here is incredible, and I’ve made lifelong friends. We cherish every moment together because we never know when it’ll be our last. Tonight is our last night in the Exuma, and I’ll definitely miss it. We made sure to enjoy a long swim in the crystal-clear waters before leaving.
On a different note, I want to take a moment to thank BetterHelp for sponsoring this video. Mental health is something that was not talked about when I was growing up, and I’ve personally struggled with depression and anxiety for years. It’s important to spread the message that it’s okay to ask for help, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to partner with BetterHelp to do so.

The past few months have been a flurry of boat upgrades and preparations for the upcoming Charter season. However, it’s not all work and no play in the cruising community. We recently headed down to the Exuma to spend quality time with friends and participate in the exhilarating flotilla.
The flotilla was an absolute blast, with thrilling sailings and memorable moments shared with like-minded individuals. We had a mixture of catamarans and monohauls, and despite the bumpy night, the spirit of adventure remained unwavering. As we sail back to Staniel to bid farewell to friends, anticipation builds for the next destination – Bimini, the island where we will be hosting our Charters. The cruising community is simply extraordinary; we have formed deep connections and found our best friends within this close-knit group. We cherish every moment together, as we never know when it might be the last.

Yesterday was an absolute blast, with plenty of fun and excitement. However, it was a bumpy night as Spirit Animal and I braved the waves alongside a catamaran and another monohull. Today, I’m sailing back to Staniel to bid farewell to some dear friends before making my way north to Bimini for the exhilarating Hammerhead dive.
Now begins a day of productivity as I tackle emails and edit footage for my upcoming projects. Amidst the busy schedule, I always make time for fun, like playing fetch with my furry friend. The stunning sunset reminds me of the beauty that surrounds us, and I seize the opportunity to embrace it.
As my journey continues, I can’t help but feel a tinge of sadness knowing that I’ll soon be leaving the incredible Exuma. We cherish every moment together, as we never know when it will be the last time we see each other.
Tonight marks our final night in Exuma, and I’ll undoubtedly miss this paradise. The crystal-clear waters and breathtaking swims have been unforgettable, even though the cold is a constant reminder of the impending journey to Bimini.
